| Bio: | Everyone needs a bio! I just have the need to write a long winded one. An atypical geek who loses himself in the world of fandoms, computers, games, and the general geek culture. Best summary of my being would be someone who is geeky, shy, friendly, burly, romantic, weird, and sarcastic all rolled into one and yet also enjoys such non-geek activities such as football, how does that work?. I work as a contract programmer for Don Johnston, Inc., a place I am much happier being a free agent for then a regular employee of. Generally I am content with what I do for a living and my continuing trek through the world of post-secondary education. On the side I do free lance anthropomorphic artwork, which makes drawing both a hobby and a small, side source of income. I live in Wisconsin; home of cheese, beer and drivers who think everyday is Sunday afternoon and being a Bears fan gets one daily stares. Specifically I live in a city called Kenosha, otherwise known as K-Town. Kenosha is one of those working class cities of unions and factories with so many bars and biker associations it’s ubiquitous. I really do like where I live but my “home state” will always be Illinois, consequently I am far more “in the know” what goes on in Illinois and Chicago then in the state where I currently reside. I describe myself as a “Space Nerd”, a term my friend Jeff came up with as a humorous moniker for those of us who are hard-core Science Fiction fans but can both be proud and laugh at ourselves for this fact, there is no doubt about the fact I am a total Sci-Fi geek, can ramble on about far more Sci-Fi shows and in greater detail then is probably considered mentally healthy. A second-generation Sci-Fi fan, I regularly attend conventions and have done so since I was a child, and I will always have fond memories of watching Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, and Star Wars as a tyke, and since those early days I have never lost my intense interest in this genre. In addition to Sci-Fi, I am also a fan of anthropomorphics and also draw in said genre, mostly in my spare time; people seem to like the work that I produce, although fan letters to my characters creep me out. I see anthropomorphics (or ‘furry’) as a fandom and a vehicle to explore other genres, not a lifestyle, not a culture, not a spiritual experience, and not an excuse to get easy dork sex; I am just a geek fan of anthropomorphics and that is enough for me. The fandom itself I have a love/hate relationship with, love because of all the incredibility cool friends I have made, hate because of the vast number of wankers that inhabit the fandom who know nothing of social grace or subtlety, thus I keep the fandom at an arms length generally. Another genre I enjoy is anime (Japanese cartoons), of which I have been a very long time fan of, started back in the days of fan dubbing and tape trading at anime clubsm long before anime became the "chic" domain of teenage Naruto, cat eared girls, Tokyo Pop, and endlessly spoken words of terribly butchered Japanese. One doesn’t need to fit the dominate demographic to be a fan of something fortunately. I am not a rabbit; I just play one on TV. The Irish part of my name is from my heritage. The “Irish Bastard” part together is from one of my favorite British comedies. The name Blackberry is homage to one of my favorite books, Watership Down. I love the sport of football, either college or professional, I see no issues being a geek and a sports fan, my weekends in the autumn consist of watching or listening to the various games, which actually help me draw in addition to the pure entertainment value. Let’s see anything else.. Mentioned working through the world of colleges and universities to further my skills for the IT world in order to move up into better paying jobs and open new career opportunities. Personality-wise, I am very shy, single, and available, hope that I can meet some geek girl that’s willing to put up with a geek guy like me. :P I am also a self-described constitutionalist libertarian who is a bit old fashioned and has a “live and let live” attitude. I use this journal to simply write my thoughts on everything from the mundane events that occur in my everyday life, events of relevance, and sarcastic commentary on things of interest, and political stupidity since I am an equal opportunity exposure of stupidity, hence I often collect stories on PC gone made and then proceed to mock said individuals since they deserve it so. I cannot stand idealogs or fanatics. I value honesty and integrity highly and therefore very open and honest in what I say here and hope others are the same to me when or if they reply. As such, many of my posts are public, what you see is what you get. Also always out to meet now people and find new friends.
